On July 11, 2023, the Hong Kong Law Society held a forum on “Doing Business in Hong Kong in a Rapidly Changing World” at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The forum aimed to “enhance the international community’s confidence in Hong Kong’s long-term economic development and competitiveness in a rapidly changing world, and thus create more opportunities for the legal services market”. The forum brought together distinguished representatives from government agencies, academia, legal and business sectors, who shared their insights on Hong Kong’s unique advantages and opportunities, to “enhance Hong Kong’s position as a leading international legal and financial centre and a gateway to the mainland China for international business”. The president of the Hong Kong Law Society, Mr. C. M. CHAN, told the media that the forum was held to tell the good story of Hong Kong to the world, from the perspective of the rule of law, and to explain why Hong Kong is one of the best business environments in the world. The Law Society sent invitation letters to all consulates and foreign chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, and more than 50 consulates and foreign chambers of commerce representatives attended the forum.
Fred Kan & Co., Mr. Fred KAN, as the former chairman of the “Belt and Road” Committee and the chairman of Committee on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement of the Law Society of Hong Kong, delivered a speech on “Hong Kong – A Springboard for Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”.
